Worms Zone.io is a free mobile arcade game from Casual Azur Games. The game will have you control a cheerful, plucky worm as it slithers inside an enormous arena full of food and boosters. However, unlike the classic worm games, this game pits you against other worms that will try to get to the food ahead of you. Your goal is to grow the largest worm in the arena to become the leader of the board. Worms Zone.io offers other features to make the game more fun.

Eat up

Worms Zone.io employs the same gameplay as the classic snake game. You’ll start the game with a small worm that you need to grow by directing to a clump of food. The worm constantly moves and is ready to eat anything it crosses path with. Of course, there will also be plenty of food to eat around. 

With that, it would seem easy to grow your worm into the size of anaconda. But it is not. Alongside you on the arena are various-sized AI worms that you need to outplay. Not only will they try to get to the food ahead of you, but bumping into them will also lead to your worm’s death. However, to be fair, once they bump into your worm, they will also die, and their deaths will give you additional points.

In addition to food, there are also potions that you can get in the arena. These potions will act as a booster to help you gain more points. There is a booster that can speed up your worm for five seconds, and there are potions that can give your worm a magnetic power that attracts food. You can also collect coins as you eat, which will help you extend your playtime even if you die.

Set it up

Worms Zone.io has a very simple premise, and its simplicity extends to its game design. However, it also offers customization options. For one, from the basic color white, you can dress up your worm in various colors and designs. You can change the color of its skin by choosing from a wide variety of colors. You can even customize and choose any quantity of colors at the same time. You can change the face of your worm, too. However, both the customized color and faces require coins.

Apart from the worm’s color and face, you can also change the color of your arena. However, unlike the worm’s wardrobe, the background option is fairly limited. The same goes for the choice of food. You can only have three options, which are cheese and vegetables, gummies, and orb-shaped candies.

Worms Zone.io comes with simple mechanics. You only need to move your fingers around your screen to direct your worm. Note that by default, the joystick movement is locked and you can only move your fingers in the middle of the screen. To allow you to move around your entire phone screen, make sure that the Lock Joystick Movement button is unchecked.

Worms Zone.io does not come with a multiplayer option. The only competition you’ll have is with AI worms. What you can do, instead, is compete with other players in the leader board by logging in. This option also allows you to save your levels. Moreover, the game allows you to share your score and level with your friends via your social media accounts.

Great casual game

All in all, Worms Zone.io is a great game for casual players. The game is very simple. It is not too hard yet not too easy that you’ll be bored after playing for a few minutes. And while it does not offer complex gameplay, the game is very entertaining. Once you start playing, you will have a hard time stopping.
